N’EX
N’EX (Narita Express project E259) is the new shuttle train that connects Japan’s capital to Narita international airport in 36 minutes.
The train’s design, clearly Japanese inspired, is by the GK Industrial Design studio in Tokyo. The train consists of 6 carriages, 5 standard class and 1 Green class. The dominant motif of the interiors is characterised by a chess board design re-proposed both in the seat fabric and in the rubber flooring.
The latter was specifically designed for the project according to the designer’s instructions: the chess board floor comes in a seamless, continuous roll, manufactured by utilising the Decors Idea which makes it possible to produce mono-chromatic shapes on client request.
The width of the roll making up the design is 1,900 mm for the whole length of the carriage.
